Job summary

Graham Manufacturing in Batavia, NY is seeking a skilled Machinist to perform setups, troubleshoot problems, and document inspections. This second shift position runs four 10‑hour days, with a $3.00/hour shift differential.

You will read drawings, program basic features with CAM software, select tooling, and ensure parts meet QA requirements. Requires 4+ years machining experience, technical training, and the ability to work overtime.

Job description

Perform setups, troubleshoot problems, fill out necessary inspection documentation, and help contribute to continuous improvement. Reports directly to Production Supervisor or his/her designate.

Shift Information

This is a second shift position scheduled for four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday. A $3.00/hour shift differential is provided.

Level I: Quality – Complete and accurate work performed efficiently

• Work from drawings, specifications, manuals, codes, etc., to set up machine tools, and obtain cutting tools, gages, paperwork and other necessary requirements for the specified job.
• Investigates special machining instructions to conform to Quality Assurance requirements.
• Read and modify G&M programming and macros.
• Use CAM software to program basic features.
• Use basic math and trigonometry to manufacture and verify components.
• Inspection and setup of castings and weldments to ensure all critical features are going to finish in tolerance.
• Select proper tooling, speeds, feeds and cutting techniques for various super alloys and stainless steels.
• Size of work may require incumbents of this position to operate a variety of material handling equipment including jibs, overhead cranes, and their accessories.
• Uses an assortment of measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, bore gages, gage blocks, gage pins etc. to ensure conformity.
• Consistently meet customer’s quality requirements and expectations.

Follow instructions – oral and/or written

• Can interpret GD&T and work instruction documentation.
• Will provide instruction and guidance to employees assigned to assist and as required, will participate in training of other employees of the department of lesser classification.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor, or his/her designate.

• Work may require the use of a crane to move part.

Education and Training

• Technical Trades School or Journeyperson
• High school GED Required

Experience:

• 4+ years of machining experience.

Other:

• Must be willing to work overtime as required.
• Minimal travel may be required
