Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Columbia, CT is seeking a 2nd shift CNC Lead to supervise machine operators, ensure production targets are met, and maintain high quality standards.

You will lead milling and turning teams, conduct pre-shift briefings, assign work, monitor workflow, and coordinate tool changes and machine setups.

The role requires 3+ years in CNC machining with at least 1 year in a leadership capacity, and a strong focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Working in our Columbia, CT facility, the 2nd shift CNC Lead is responsible for supervising CNC machine operators, ensuring production targets are met, maintaining high-quality standards, and optimizing machining processes.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinator team of CNC operators (Milling and Turning)
• Conduct pre-shift briefings, assign work, and monitor workflow
• Resolve staffing, scheduling, and performance issues
• Ensure adherence to production schedules and deadlines
• Oversee tool changes, and machine setup
• Enforce quality control procedures
• Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and company policies
• Communicate status updates and issues to site leadership

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience, with at least 1 year in a lead role
• Proficient with CNC programming and machine tool operation
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment
