Job summary

Best Metal Products, a Michigan-based precision manufacturer, seeks a skilled CNC Machinist for our second shift. You will set up and operate Hurco and Mazak lathes to produce high-precision components per blueprints and CAD drawings.

Qualifications

• 4+ years setting up and programming lathes, preferably Hurco.
• Machining metal parts with tolerances as tight as ±0.002 in (0.0005 in).
• Strong basic math skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and CAD drawings to interpret requirements.
• Set up, program, and operate Hurco and Mazak lathes.
• Use micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges to verify tolerances.
• Detect and report defective materials.
• Perform PM checks and coolant/filter changes.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and equipment.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join our second shift production team. If you have a passion for precision, a "measure twice, cut once" mentality, and the ability to turn raw materials into high-quality components, we want to hear from you. You’ll be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of CNC Lathes to produce precision parts and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical blueprints, sketches, and 2D/3D CAD drawings to understand specific requirements.
• Setup, program, and operate Hurco and Mazak CNC lathes
• Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, depth gauges) to ensure all parts meet tolerances
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions
• Perform basic maintenance activities such as PM checks, coolant changes, and filter changes
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
• Assist in other work areas as needed.
• Perform all other duties, as assigned.

Experience And Skills

• 4+ years setting up and programming Lathes. Primarily working with Hurco. DMG Mori or Mazak experience is a plus.
• Machining metal parts holding tolerances as tight as 0.0005 in. (typical tolerances +/-0.002 in.)
• Strong basic math skills
• Ability to lift/push/pull objects up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational program or apprenticeship is a plus

Schedule, Wages, Benefits

• This is a second shift position working Monday - Friday 3:30 PM to 1:00 AM.
• Scheduled shift includes 5 hours of overtime. Changes in the amount of overtime may be made to support our customers.
• Wages range from $22 to $28 based on experience and ability (plus $1.00 shift premium)
