Job summary

The State of Louisiana is seeking a Child Welfare Specialist Trainee/1/2/3 to investigate allegations of child abuse and neglect and to support backlog casework. Location will be determined by parish availability, with a 4-day workweek of 10-hour shifts in the second shift.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in child welfare.
• Six years of full-time work experience in any field is acceptable as alternative.
• A bachelor’s degree is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations into allegations of child abuse and or neglect.
• Support first-shift staff by assisting with backlog cases.
• Gather and document detailed case information and records for court proceedings and provide testimony during court proceedings.
• Make timely and appropriate referrals to family services, foster care programs, and other community-based resources to address the needs of children and families.
