Job summary

Michigan State University IPF is seeking a Part-Time Custodian to maintain clean and safe facilities in East Lansing. You will work Monday–Friday from 10:30 pm to 2:30 am, totaling 20 hours a week, performing routine cleaning and basic maintenance under supervision.

This role emphasizes teamwork with student employees, adherence to cleaning protocols, and following safety instructions for chemicals and equipment while serving the university community.

Responsibilities

• Removing Trash.
• Dusting.
• Vacuuming.
• Mopping.
• Disinfecting restrooms.
• These positions will perform cleaning and maintenance activities; understands and gives verbal or written instructions.
• Reads chemical, biological, or radioactive warning signs.
• Removes snow with a shovel or snow blower.
• Retains training information required for custodial methods, equipment, and products.
• Works with student employees and communicates and interacts with the University community.
• Serves as a liaison with the Department of Public Safety.
• Maintains product inventory.
• Makes independent decisions to accomplish acceptable cleaning standards using appropriate methods, products, and equipment.
• This position will engage in high-performing, leading-edge practices, valuing people, partners, and stewardship.
