Job summary

Smith & Loveless Inc. is seeking a dependable forklift operator to handle material movement, operate forklifts and overhead cranes, and follow safety procedures at our Lenexa facility.

The role requires reading work orders, attention to detail, and adherence to quality standards. Candidates must pass background checks and drug screening, with a focus on reliability and safety in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience operating forklifts and the relevant certification is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders.
• Demonstrated good attendance in prior roles.
• Ability to read and understand units of measurement.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Must pass alcohol and drug screening, background check, and physical exam.
• Capability to perform simple, repetitive routine tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes as required.
• Move materials and load/unload using forklift equipment.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain tidy work area.

• Previous forklift experience and certification preferred.
• Ability to read work orders
• Demonstrated good work attendance in previous jobs.
• Read and understand units of measurement
• Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

• Must be able to perform simple, repetitive routine tasks.

Physical Requirements

• Required to sit, stand and walk.
• Use hands and fingers to feel objects, tools or controls.
• Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
• Reach with hands and arms.
• Required to talk and hear consistently.
• Ability to lift, carry and/or drag up to 100 pounds if necessary.
• Must be comfortable in small spaces
• Specific vision abilities required by the role include the ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye.
• Ability to wear PPE (eyeglasses, earplugs, protective coveralls, respiratory device and steel toe shoes)
• Ability to ascend and descend two (2) flights of stairs.
