Job summary

Staffing Support Specialists in Mequon, WI is seeking an Assembler IV to operate a range of assembly operations with limited supervision. You will set up jobs, operate multiple machines, and verify product quality throughout the day.

The role requires cross-training across at least four assembly cells, completing fixture changeovers, and training others. Candidates must read blueprints and follow standard work; standing 85-100% is expected.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high degree of assembly skills and precision assembly techniques.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and work from blueprints, routings, and informal engineering documentation.
  • Must have assembly experience involving significant portions of all of the different products.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of inspection instruments and methods to do the job.
  • Must have the ability to read, comprehend, and follow documented standard work instructions in order to perform the duties described above.
  • Must be able to follow production and quality standards while documenting in the ERP system (Sytline).
  • Must possess the ability to perform basic arithmetic required for charting and calculating order quantities.
  • Ability to meet production requirements as defined by Takt Time with strong attention to detail and quality procedures as defined by all work instructions and standard operational documents.
  • Able to stand 85-100% of the day.
  • Comprehensive understanding of part defects, as well as assembly practices.
  • Ability to identify part defects.
  • Ability to document and communicate any part shortages, disruptions and/or any positive progress during the workday.

Responsibilities

  • Grade 4 Assemblers should be cross trained in a minimum of 4 assembly cells.
  • Perform complete fixture/process changeovers in cells where cross trained.
  • Train and assist other assemblers in various cell production standards.
  • Prepare work area. Check blueprints, routings, and validate REV levels match production schedule.
  • Validate components as defined by blueprint.
  • Set-up jobs and assists other assemblers with set-ups and start-ups.
  • Assemble experimental, prototype and complex products from engineering drawings and from verbal instructions when necessary.
  • Assemble all components properly following standard work procedures and instructions.
  • Visually inspect parts for chips, burrs, cleanliness, broken tooling, defective paint and porosity.
  • Complete scrap tags, mark defective area and place in designated scrap carts.
  • Document all customer names, heat and lot numbers, such as rubber products, friction material, part counts, material codes, and shipping part numbers.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and various unsupervised routine inspections.
  • Prepare all finished units for shipment.
  • Verify and maintain quality through testing and inspection work instructions.

Job description

Position: Assembler IV

Location: Mequon, WI

Shift: 1st shift, 6:00 am - 2:30pm (M-F) | 2nd shift, 2:30pm - 11:00pm (M-F)

Pay: $18.32 - 21.41 / hour

Summary:

Assemble and operate a variety of assembly operations, including complex, as required with limited supervision. Set up jobs. Operate various machines (riveter, air ratchets, testers, presses, etc.) and operate a number of machines and testers simultaneously throughout the day. Verify and maintain quality of work produced. Complete all tags, cards and charts. Audit the work of other assemblers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  10. Document all customer names, all heat and lot numbers, such as rubber products, friction material, part counts, material codes, and shipping part numbers.
  11. Perform "first-piece inspections" and various unsupervised routine inspections, visually or with the use of checking devices.
  12. Prepare all finished units for shipment.
  13. Verify and maintain the quality of work produced through visual inspection, testing, and inspection work instructions. Notify supervisor or lead of any nonconformity, and document as required.
  14. Perform 6S daily and maintain a safe and clean work area complying with procedures. This includes mopping, sweeping, emptying mop and water buckets, and cleaning machines.
  15. Follow all ISO established procedures and participate in continuous improvement.
  16. Consistently demonstrate/be a team player, respectful, cooperative, trustworthy, and willing to help and to take ownership in solving problems.
  17. Participate in LEAN/Kaizen activity as requested
  18. Complete JITS, OEE, Shop Trak, and hour x hour production boards in accordance with standards.
  19. Actively engage in learning more than one assembly cell
  20. Follow all corporate policies and procedures including contract language for professional standards.
