GT Industries, a Tier 1 automotive supplier, seeks an Area Manager for the 2nd shift in North Vernon, IN. This role leads a shift Monday–Friday, 3:30PM–12AM, with opportunities for advancement toward Production Manager.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Safety first: ensure team members work safely and PPE is used.
• Produce quality parts using Midway Product Quality System.
• Monitor performance of the area and control manufacturing activity.
• Analyze data to identify improvements and lead CI projects.
• Cross-train team members to create multi-functional employees.
• Discipline as needed within HR guidelines and policies.
• Assist in scheduling and staffing for assigned area.
• Maintain up-to-date area boards and daily pass-down information.
• Resolve daily production challenges with cross-functional teams.
• Attend meetings and uphold safety and health regulations.
• Reinforce STOP CALL WAIT for safety and quality concerns.
• Keep the shop floor organized and maintain housekeeping standards.
• Lead on-the-job training and coach team members.
• Ensure timecards are reviewed and communicated to HR.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure team members work safely, ensure operators have all required PPE to safely accomplish assigned job duties.

• Produce quality parts by utilizing Midway Product Quality System.

• Monitor assigned area’s performance.

• Coordinate the manufacturing activity.

• Analyze data to identify areas of improvement and lead continuous improvement projects.

• Utilize MPS to control processes.

• Assist with cross‑training team members to create multi‑functional employees.

• Teach, train, coach, and assist team members and has authority to discipline as needed.

• Assist in scheduling assigned employees and ensuring proper staffing.

• Ensure assigned area board is up to date.

• Prepare daily pass down information and communicate with manager on opposite shift daily.

• Work cross functionally to help resolve daily production challenges.

• Review employees’ timecards daily and communicate any changes with the appropriate departments.

• Manage all employees’ requests/concerns in accordance with our policies and procedures.

• Issue all disciplinary actions assigned by HR in a timely manner.

• Attend all assigned meetings.

• Maintain established employee relations policies and safety and health regulations.

• Reinforce STOP CALL WAIT policy for all assigned employees to ensure safety and quality concerns are addressed in a timely manner.

• Ensure assigned area always maintains housekeeping standards.

• Hands on with knowledge of data interpretation

• Floor leader spending 85% of time on the shop floor

• Performs other essential functions as assigned.
