Job summary

GTI Fabrication is seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead a high-volume manufacturing floor, coordinating fabrication, welding, and mechanical/electrical assembly teams. You will drive safety, quality, on-time delivery, and cost performance while partnering with engineering, quality, and planning to remove barriers and improve efficiency.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in manufacturing leadership, a strong Lean background, and proven ability to optimize throughput in dynamic

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership supervising production teams.
  • Experience in contract/manufacturing, modular manufacturing, fabrication, or related sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily production activities to safely achieve schedules and deliver customer commitments.
  • Coach, develop, and hold accountable hourly production employees.
  • Monitor labor utilization, staffing levels, and production priorities to maximize throughput.
  • Ensure activities follow standard work and manufacturing processes; escalate constraints to minimize downtime.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in throughput, safety, quality, and cost.

GTI is a contract manufacturing partner supporting customers in renewable energy, power generation, infrastructure, and industrial systems.

We fabricate custom designed, purpose-built enclosures and skids for our customers and perform mechanical and electrical integration in-house, delivering a true turn-key product to our customers. The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of manufacturing operations within an assigned production area. This position oversees hourly production employees and is accountable for achieving production goals related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and possesses experience leading teams across fabrication, welding, mechanical assembly, electrical integration, or systems manufacturing. This role partners closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, Maintenance, Materials, and Operations Leadership to remove barriers, improve throughput, and exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities
Production Leadership
  • Lead daily production activities to safely achieve production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
  • Supervise, coach, develop, and hold accountable a team of hourly manufacturing employees.
  • Monitor labor utilization, staffing levels, and production priorities to maximize throughput.
  • Coordinate shift startup meetings and communicate daily production objectives, safety expectations, and operational priorities.
  • Ensure production activities are executed according to standardized work instructions and manufacturing processes.
  • Escalate production constraints quickly and work cross‑functionally to minimize downtime.
Safety & Compliance
  • Promote a strong safety‑first culture through visible leadership and daily engagement on the manufacturing floor.
  • Conduct regular safety observations, audits, and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety procedures, and environmental policies.
  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas utilizing 5S principles.
Quality Excellence
  • Drive a "build it right the first time" culture throughout the production team.
  • Ensure products meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards.
  • Partner closely with Quality to resolve non‑conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Utilize Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action methodologies to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Reinforce quality ownership throughout all stages of production.
Operational Performance
  • Execute daily production plans while meeting KPI targets for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Productivity.
  • Monitor production metrics and implement improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Identify bottlenecks and collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to improve workflow and cycle times.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives including waste reduction, standard work, visual management, and continuous flow.
  • Drive improvements that increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), throughput, and labor efficiency.
Team Development
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and develop manufacturing employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and development planning.
  • Promote employee engagement through recognition, communication, and accountability.
  • Build a culture centered around teamwork, respect, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
  • Support succession planning by identifying and developing future manufacturing leaders.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to improve manufacturing processes and implement process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Planning and Supply Chain to prioritize work orders and material availability.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Work closely with Program Management to support customer priorities and schedule changes.
  • Communicate production performance, risks, and recovery plans to Operations Leadership.
Continuous Improvement
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing principles throughout the operation.
  • Participate in Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize problem‑solving methodologies including:
    • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
    • Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA)
    • PDCA
    • 5 Why Analysis
    • Fishbone Diagrams
  • Drive measurable improvements in productivity, safety, quality, and cost reduction.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing leadership experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience supervising production teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within one or more of the following:
    • Contract Manufacturing
    • Modular Manufacturing
    • Mechanical Assembly
    • Electrical Assembly
    • Metal Fabrication
    • Welding
    • Industrial Equipment Manufacturing
    • Energy or Data Center Manufacturing
  • Experience managing production schedules, labor planning, and manufacturing KPIs.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze production data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting engineered-to-order or high-mix manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of welding, fabrication, electrical integration, and mechanical assembly processes.
  • Experience with visual management systems and production boards.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean Certification, or Kaizen facilitation.
  • Experience improving throughput, labor efficiency, and manufacturing flow.
  • Knowledge of production scheduling and capacity planning.
  • Experience supporting ISO-based quality management systems.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams through operational change and continuous improvement initiatives.
