Novacel is seeking a highly skilled 2nd Shift Advanced Maintenance Technician to join our operations team. This role is critical for ensuring maximum run-time, equipment reliability, and operational safety across our production lines. The ideal candidate brings deep troubleshooting expertise across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems, along with a passion for mentoring others and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, facility systems, and utilities.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues across mechanical, electrical, and PLC/control systems to minimize downtime.
- Lead root-cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Engineering on equipment upgrades, rebuilds, and new installations.
Technical Expertise & Leadership
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in electrical/controls troubleshooting, PLC logic interpretation, and automation systems.
- Mentor and train junior technicians and operators on best practices in maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Identify and recommend equipment or process improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and product quality.
- Partner with the Maintenance Manager to prioritize and execute work orders effectively.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards.
- Champion critical safety programs, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and arc flash safety.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of maintenance activities within the CMMS system.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement initiatives to reduce downtime, extend equipment life, and optimize spare parts usage.
- Participate in Lean/Kaizen events and cross-functional improvement efforts.
- Support cost-reduction initiatives through energy savings, waste reduction, and improved process reliability.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support departmental initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate’s degree in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of multi-craft maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical/controls systems.
- Strong PLC troubleshooting skills (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency with CMMS systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and required PPE.
- Demonstrated stamina for extended periods of physical activity and sustained concentration.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts (8–12 hours), including occasional weekends.
- Solid understanding of OSHA and ANSI standards, with a strong commitment to safe work practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
