The Second Pressman is responsible for obtaining and maintaining product color. In the absence of the First Pressman, the Second Pressman assumes all responsibilities of the First Pressman and performs any related tasks assigned by the First Pressman or Pressroom Supervision.

This is a 2nd shift role: 3PM-11PM.

WHAT YOU’LL DO ON THE A-TEAM:
  1. Check equipment daily to ensure trouble-free operation.
  2. Perform preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment at required intervals.
  3. Maintain color, cutoff register, ink and water balance, and quality of printed material.
  4. Assist in training crew members and ensure safe work practices are utilized.
  5. Support First Pressman in achieving and maintaining job quality, and assist with paperwork such as time cards, load tags, blanket logs, roller logs, and waste summaries.
  6. Install plates and blankets, wash blankets, and gum plates.
  7. Check quality of make-ready procedures.
  8. Collaborate with First Pressman to prepare for the next job.
  9. Assist with folder adjustments during makeready and on the run.
  10. Make roller adjustments, especially during makeready.
  11. Prepare and check blankets for proper packing.
  12. Inspect loads leaving the press for quality.
  13. Maintain positive relations with visitors, customers, and employees.
  14. Perform any other duties assigned by management.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

  • Previous Second Pressman experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Own hand tools.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and hold a current forklift license.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be in good physical condition, able to stand, stoop, walk, push, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • No fear of heights.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Excellent color vision required.

The work environment is indoors, involving exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise levels.
