Job summary

Dynabrade, a leader in precision machining, seeks a Lathe Operator for its Machine Shop. You will set up, maintain and operate CNC lathe machines to produce precision parts per blueprints and specifications.

You will read drawings, edit programs when needed and collaborate with team members to meet production targets. Requires lathe machining experience, familiarity with FANUC controls, and the ability to interpret charts and blueprints.

Qualifications

• Lathe machining experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
• Knowledge of FANUC controls and safety procedures.
• Capable of editing programs on the machine when needed.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in measurement with calipers/micrometers.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathe machines from blueprints.
• Edit CNC programs on the machine when needed.

Job Title: Lathe Operator

Department: Machine Shop

Supervisor: Production Manager

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Shift Schedules:

2nd Shift: 3:30pm- 12:00am

3rd Shift: 11:30pm- 8:00am

Summary of Job: The Lathe Machine Operator will be responsible for setting up, maintaining and operating Lathe machines to produce precision parts that meet quality standards. The Lathe Machine Operator will also be responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings and specifications, and working closely with other team members to ensure production goals are met, or exceeded.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Setup and operate CNC Lathe machinery from blueprints.
• Edit programs on the machine, when needed.
• Check parts for accuracy according to blueprints.
• Perform quality checks on parts for accuracy according to blueprints, and to ensure the product meets quality standards.
• Identify product defects and work with QC team.
• Set up tools and machinery for individual projects.
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
• Maintain a professional, clean and safe work area.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Lathe machining experience required.
• Knowledge of FANUC controls.
• Knowledge of 4th axis operation, a plus.
• Able to use measuring equipment such as Calipers, Micrometers, Indicators, etc.
• Able to read and interpret charts, drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of safety procedures relating to operating Lathe machinery and handling materials.
• Ability to interpret, edit, and program efficiently, when required.
• Must be able to follow directions and perform work accurately and thoroughly.
• Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy.
• Strong communication skills to work as part of a team.
• Machinist tools required.
• High School Diploma, or GED.
