Job summary

Mesa Public Schools in Mesa, Arizona seeks a 2nd Grade Teacher for Jefferson Elementary. The position requires a Bachelor's degree, valid Arizona teaching certification, and prior teaching experience.

You will translate district standards into engaging lessons, maintain a positive classroom environment, keep accurate student records, and collaborate with parents and staff to support each student's growth. The base salary is $55,886 per year with benefits and performance pay.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required
• Valid Arizona Teaching Certification is required
• Prior teaching experience is required
• Associate teacher, student teaching or practicum experience is required

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of related subject matter, instructional skills and resource materials
• Utilizes a variety of effective instructional and management techniques
• Considers the individual learning needs and abilities of students, as well as school and district learning goals
• Utilizes district-adopted textbooks and curriculum guides in instructional planning and implementation
• Incorporates higher level thinking strategies and real-life applications into lesson planning
• Creates instructional and assessment materials that align with learning objectives
• Uses available technology or instructional media to enhance learning
• Collects student achievement data to inform instruction and decisions
• Establishes positive classroom management in accordance with regulations
• Maintains open communication with students and parents about progress
• Works with parents and school staff to provide appropriate education for each student
• Maintains and utilizes student records relating to achievement, attendance and behavior
• Provides a positive and safe learning environment
• Supports school goals and resolves concerns
• Communicates expectations of success for all students
• Assists with assigned duties as appropriate to the area and Mesa Public Schools
