Job summary

Our Savior’s School in Salem, Oregon is seeking a 2nd Grade Teacher to join a Christ-centered program. You will plan and deliver faith-integrated lessons, foster spiritual growth, and support academic development in a warm, collaborative environment.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education (or equivalent teaching experience), teaching certification preferred, and at least 1 year of teaching or student-teaching experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Elementary Education or equivalent lead teaching experience.
  • Teaching certification preferred.

  • Knowledge of child growth and development across instructional levels.

Education

Bachelor’s in Elementary Education (or multiple years of experience as lead elementary classroom teacher with a bachelor’s in a different field)

Experience

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following
  • planning, supervising and implementing the academic and behavioral program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the school.
  • gearing the program to the need of individual children with concerns for their interests, special needs, talents and individual style and pace of learning.
  • considering individual children in relation to their cultural and socio-economic background.
  • treating children with dignity and respect.
  • helping children to become aware of their roles as integral members of a group.
  • being responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and learning environment of the classroom.
  • attending all staff meetings.
  • participating in offered training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.
  • implementing methods for effectively utilizing the services of classroom assistants.
  • planning and implementing methods of working collaboratively and communicating well with parents of the students.
  • conducting parent conferences.
  • assisting in the ongoing evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of the children.
  • keep first-aid and CPR training up to date with provided trainings.
