Job summary

Nevis Public Schools in Nevis, MN is seeking a dedicated Long-Term Substitute 2nd Grade teacher to maintain continuity of high-quality education during an extended absence.

Deliver pre-planned lessons with fidelity, grade assignments, and uphold clear classroom routines. You will monitor safety, communicate with parents, and participate in staff meetings, ensuring a supportive, inclusive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications

• Valid Minnesota PELSB short-call or long-call substitute teacher license.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons with fidelity, adapt materials to meet diverse learning needs.
• Grade assignments, administer quizzes/tests, and provide timely feedback to students.
• Establish and enforce consistent classroom rules, routines, and behavior expectations aligned with school policies.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and safe classroom culture where all students feel valued and supported.
• Monitor student safety during activities, transitions, and assigned duties (e.g., hallway, lunch, or recess monitoring).
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behavioral incidents using the school’s information system.
• Act as the primary point of contact for parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavioral concerns, or achievements.
• Participate in mandatory staff meetings, professional development days, and parent-teacher conferences as required.
