Job summary

Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, SC, seeks an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to lead greens staff and support the Golf Course Superintendent in maintaining the course to AAA Four Diamond standards.

The role involves supervising daily greens operations, irrigation and drainage design/repair, chemical application oversight, staff training, and ensuring safety and grooming standards. Strong leadership and English communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• Experience in golf course maintenance required.
• Degree in Turf Management preferred.
• Management/supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee greens keeping staff daily operations.
• Assist in equipment operator duties and maintain course.
• Train staff and enforce safety standards.
• Design, install, and repair irrigation systems.
• Design and repair drainage systems.
• Oversee chemical and fertilizer applications.
• Support personnel management and performance evaluations.
• Maintain grooming and professional appearance.
• Coordinate staff meetings with Superintendent.

SUMMARY: The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent is to direct and participate in the maintenance of the golf course. Supervises the staff and performs related work. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will assist in maintaining the AAA Four Diamond standards. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. They will be responsible for exemplifying the Wild Dunes Resort Culture as well as promoting Wild Dunes Resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice!

Essential job FUNCTIONS:

• Day to day management and supervision of greens keeping staff
• Fulfill the range of duties of an equipment operator/greens keeper
• Train staff
• Irrigation design, installation and repair
• Drainage design, installation and repair
• Manage irrigation responsibilities
• Manage the use of chemicals and fertilizers
• Apply and supervise application of chemicals and fertilizer
• Assist in personnel management and evaluation, to include, but not limited to: Colleague safety and safety training; Personnel discipline; Assign personnel duties; Motivate and appraise staff
• Maintain an acceptable grooming and uniform appearance
• Consistently acting as a role model for all Wild Dunes Colleagues
• Assist Golf Course Superintendent in coordinating staff meetings
• The colleague is held accountable for all duties of this job and other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & eDUCATION:

• High school education or equivalent required
• Experience in golf course maintenance required
• Degree in Turf Management preferred
• Management/supervisory experience preferred

Job REQUIRMENTS:

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must have a valid driver license and meet company driving standards
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
• Must have a strong technical gasoline and diesel engine background
• Excellent equipment operation skills
• Must have required tools of the trade
• Must have excellent mechanical understanding and ability

Working CONDITIONS:

• Must be able to stand & walk throughout the day, occasionally on uneven surfaces
• Must be able to frequently lift, push, pull & carry up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs and very occasionally up 73 lbs with assistance
• Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel & twist on an frequent basis, sometimes for prolonged periods
• Must be able to perform simple grasping, squeezing, fine manipulation and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently; overhead reaching occasionally.
