2nd and 3rd Shift Tool & Die Tech. Experienced (Tool maker)

Position Details
  • 2nd Shift (5) Openings - Tool and Die Technician

Pay is based on experience and certificates/degrees held.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain dies and machine-related items to produce high-quality parts efficiently.
  2. Complete tooling work orders accurately and on time.
  3. Prepare tooling for production readiness.
  4. Troubleshoot tools accurately using stop block reading, solder checks, inspection layout, and other methods.
  5. Install and correct malfunctions of die support elements such as part unloaders, knockouts systems, slug suckers, and die protection.
  6. Understand shop math and trigonometry to calculate die clearance and shear.
  7. Retiming die components and producing quality shims promptly.
  8. Lead continuous improvement projects and understand machine capabilities.
  9. Set up and operate manual and Proto Trak equipment in the tooling area, producing items from blueprints.
  10. Fill out press logs and tooling work accurately.
  11. Communicate print and Kanban list changes to the group leader.
  12. Check production parts post-repair or adjustment to ensure quality before moving to production.
  13. Operate various pressroom equipment and participate in die tryouts and inspections.
  14. Assist and train less experienced co-workers and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  15. Support training of co-op and mentorship students.
  16. Work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
Tools and Equipment Used:
  • Computer and software: Plex, VERO VISI, CAD MAX
  • Measuring tools, standard tool room equipment, Proto Trak, DCM grinder
  • Pallet jacks, overhead cranes, hand tools, cherry pickers, electric carts, tow motor, floor scrubbers
  • Welders, plasma cutters, pressure washer, shear, press brake, iron worker
Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not supervise others.
