Description

HOURS
1st shift = 7am-3pm
2nd shift = 3pm-11pm
3rd shift = 11pm - 7am
*Due to Union bumping rights, applicants must have shift flexibility*

2nd shift premium = $1.80/hr

3rd shift premium = $1.25/hr

SUMMARY
Retrieves WIP and/or finished goods from Mill production and/or Finishing production and places these products into the appropriate designated area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain material or containers to be moved.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Removes material from mills or required in a manner as not to impede production.
  • Visually inspects outside of lift for rust, weld splits, scratches and dents.
  • Checks material tag number and matches material number on shop order. Checks for proper tag placement and makes correction if needed.
  • Operates tow motors, overhead cranes and banding equipment.
  • Ability to do functions of mill bander including blowing out of material.
  • Does complete safety checklist on lift truck or crane for each shift worked.
  • Inspects material for defects and follows appropriate measures for chips & scarfing, dents, rust and packaging.
  • Lifts heavy objects with forklift and cleans work area, machines and equipment to assist machine operators.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Less than high school education; or at least 6th grade education or equivalent; up to one month related experience for training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certified Forklift Training. Overhead Crane Training a plus
