Job Description

Summary: Under the guidance of department leadership, this role is responsible for executing coatings strategies and tactical plans at the Astemo Berea Plant. The position collaborates with the leadership team to establish priorities and objectives, ensuring their effective implementation. This role supports production and acts as a strategic partner to other departments across the organization. It requires exercising independent judgment within established guidelines.

Essential Functions

• Completing required tasks safely and responsibly.
• Driving continuous improvement in capability, quality, machine uptime, and cost reduction.
• Troubleshooting equipment and performing preventive maintenance promptly.
• Maintaining proper levels of chemicals and paint in E-Coat and plating departments.
• Conducting process maintenance for chrome and zinc plating functions.
• Monitoring and maintaining chrome and zinc bath chemistry, concentrations, and titrations, including process control and verification.
• Maintaining excellent 5S standards.
• Handling and treating waste appropriately.
• Conducting rack counts and maintenance to ensure system integrity.
• Monitoring, reporting, and reducing scrap.
• Training operators on processes and process changes.
• Applying Statistical Process Control (SPC) as needed.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to plan downtime for modifications and maintenance.
• Supporting Production Engineering with process improvements and troubleshooting.
• Assisting Maintenance with major projects and shutdown work.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of related experience preferred.

Working Conditions

• Ability to sit or stand for long periods; occasionally lift/move up to 40 lbs.
• Workweek of 40+ hours.
• Exposure to manufacturing environments, including office and laboratory areas.
