Sr. Kubernetes/DevOps Engineer

Remote contract opportunity

This senior role requires a quick adopter and a key contributor to the team. The candidate should work efficiently with minimal guidance, make decisions, and provide innovative solutions to ambiguous problems. They should have a strategic mindset, mentor junior team members, and collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and QA to design, develop, and implement high-quality DevOps solutions. While primarily focused on Kubernetes/DevOps, familiarity with coding is beneficial.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop build and deployment pipelines and templates using Azure Cloud technologies.
  • Collaborate to enhance pipelines for our platform's micro-service architecture, including Event Grids, Service Busses, Functions, and App Services.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented pipelines following IaC best practices.
  • Maintain documentation linking application design to Azure assets.
  • Assist in containerizing software assets with Docker.
  • Help maintain Kubernetes infrastructure, including Argo, Headlamp, Istio, and Helm.
  • Ensure adherence to Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) practices.
  • Debug and troubleshoot production issues, with monitoring and escalation.
  • Participate in Scrum ceremonies, offering feedback and suggestions.
  • Stay updated with emerging DevOps trends and technologies.
  • Mentor and support junior DevOps engineers.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years in DevOps or software development, focusing on scalable applications.
  • Programming skills in C#, .NET Core, and Microsoft SQL.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Cloud, and other cloud providers.
  • Experience with NoSQL technologies like Cosmos DB is a plus.
  • Experience with message-based architecture and CI/CD practices.
  • Knowledge of IaC, templating, scripting, and SDL practices is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
