• Hourly Range: $24.22 - $28.18 (Determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant. A 15% salary uplift is provided on top of base salary for positions that are worked in New York City or San Francisco, which is subject to change depending on market conditions.)

Program Overview

Bechtel's U.S. Summer Internship Program provides students with an opportunity to gain meaningful, hands-on experience while working alongside industry professionals on projects and initiatives that impact communities around the world. The program is a structured 10-week summer experience, typically held from mid-June through mid-August, designed to help students translate classroom learning into practical application through challenging assignments, professional development activities, and exposure to Bechtel's global business.

Interns are treated as valuable members of the team and are assigned work that contributes directly to business objectives. Throughout the internship, participants are encouraged to build technical and professional skills, expand their industry knowledge, and develop relationships with leaders and peers across the organization.

The internship experience combines real project work, professional development programming, networking opportunities, executive speaker sessions, mentorship, and end-of-program presentations to help students gain a deeper understanding of their chosen career path while exploring future opportunities with Bechtel.

Work Locations and Assignments

Opportunities are available across Bechtel's Global Business Units (GBU) and functional organizations. Final assignment location, business unit placement, and specific responsibilities will be determined based on business needs, candidate qualifications, and organizational priorities.

Assignments may be located in a project field environment, regional office, or corporate office setting depending on business needs. Successful candidates should be flexible and willing to work in a variety of locations and environments in support of Bechtel's projects and business operations. This may include opportunities at construction sites, project execution offices, or functional and corporate service organizations.

Job Summary

Engineering Automation Interns work in multidisciplinary teams and provide support to Mechanical, Electrical, Control Systems and Plant Design disciplines within Engineering, and cross-functional support to Procurement and Construction.

Major Responsibilities

This internship position will allow you to work in multi-disciplinary teams to perform assignments that will develop professional working knowledge and abilities through application of applicable codes and standards, as well as engineering calculations and techniques, procedures, and criteria. You will use limited, but increasing, judgement in performing your assigned duties using methods prescribed by your supervisor.

Typical Activities Of The Engineering Automation Team

• Assists with setting up, installing, supporting, configuring, and implementing automation software tools
• Investigates and resolves problems and provides information about the software and systems to the users
• Customizes applications, prepares user guides and delivers training materials based on customer needsDevelops work plans to accomplish assigned tasks within established budgets and schedules

Basic Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Civil/Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, computer science or relevant Engineering and/or Information Technology (IT) at an accredited college or university.
• Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies.
• Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
• Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Master of Science degree program in Civil/Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant Engineering and/or Information Technology (IT) at an accredited college or university.
• Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
