Job summary

North Hudson Academy is seeking a dedicated Teacher of Students with Disabilities to join our full-time instructional team in North Bergen, NJ. The teacher will implement IEPs for K-6 students in a private special education program serving preschool through transition-age learners.

Responsibilities include planning individualized instruction, coordinating with staff and families, and maintaining records. NJ TOSD/TOH certification and K-6 elementary certification are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required.
• NJ Standard Certificate TOSD/TOH or equivalent required.
• Elementary Education (K-6) certification required by NJDOE.

• Planning and carrying out the IEP and instructional program for individual students.
• Planning and managing the school's therapeutic approach to individual and group discipline.
• Coordinating and scheduling activities with other staff.
• Maintaining and inventorying classroom supplies and instructional materials.
• Keeping records as required.
• Writing reports and meeting with parents and professionals as required.
• Participating in school meetings and in-service activities.
• Contributing to program planning.

Education

Compensation Range: $61,000-$80,000 per year

North Hudson Academy is seeking a dedicated Teacher of Students with Disabilities to join our team full-time, serving students in preschool through transition-age programs in a New Jersey Department of Education approved private special education school, serving students from PreK through high school. We specialize in programs for students with behavioral/emotional issues, pre-school students with disabilities and learners on the Autism Spectrum.

Job Responsibilities:

• Planning and carrying out the IEP and instructional program for individual students
• Planning and managing the school's therapeutic approach to individual and group discipline
• Coordinating and scheduling activities with other staff
• Maintaining and inventorying classroom supplies and instructional materials
• Keeping records as required
• Writing reports, meeting with parents and professionals, and sharing professional information for the individual student as required
• Participating in school meetings, conferences, and in-service activities
• Contributing to overall program planning
• Other periodic assignments as requested by the School Administration

Team:

This role will be part of the Instructional team, reporting to the school principal.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• New Jersey Standard Certificate as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) or Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH); and/or
• Appropriate New Jersey instructional certification for the assignment:
  • Elementary Education (K-6)
• Must meet all licensure, endorsement, and assignment requirements established by the New Jersey Department of Education
