Job description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Edinburgh City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) is undergoing a period of transformative change to improve access to mental health and wellbeing support for people. Mental Health Nursing staff, Allied Health and Social Work professionals contribute to these improvements in their roles within the Thrive Welcome Teams.

We are looking to welcome enthusiastic candidates who have a recognised registered professional qualification with a keen interest in working within an adult community mental health setting in Edinburgh.

There is a multi-disciplinary and interagency approach. Our senior support workers and peer recovery practitioners are employed by third sector organisations whilst our mental health nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists come from statutory services.

The teams have been co-designed to deliver accessible, short‑term, mental health interventions, working with adults aged 18+ in Edinburgh. People engage with the Thrive teams for a variety of reasons, for example, depression, anxiety, self‑harm, suicidal ideation.

People are assisted to build their own self‑agency and are linked, where suitable, to services in the wider community. The team utilise approaches that are asset based; solution focused and use motivational interviewing delivered in a trauma aware and trauma skilled way.

There is a focus on utilising professional skills to support risk assessment /management and responses as well as liaising with wider mental health service colleagues where appropriate.

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application—but your answers must be your own.

  • Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
  • Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
  • Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.

Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you—not an AI tool.
