Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Civil Designer in Houston to plan, coordinate, and perform civil design tasks, producing 3D models and estimates for earthworks, drainage, roads, and related infrastructure. You will work under supervision to develop, evaluate, and modify designs, drawings, and estimates for civil works including site utilities.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and 5–12 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and perform civil design tasks to produce 3D models and estimates.

• Perform material takeoffs for civil sitework quantities.
• Assist in constructing detailed scale models.
• Prepare material requisitions and bid evaluations.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards.
• Coordinate or visit sites to resolve problems and interpret drawings.
• Review scope changes for project management.

Job Summary

In this role you will plan, coordinate and perform civil design tasks to produce 3d models and estimates for projects within the Manufacturing and Technology Business Unit. You will develop, evaluate, coordinate, or modify models, drawings and estimates for earthworks, stormwater and drainage infrastructure, roads, paving, fences and other civil worksunder the supervision of a senior designer or Engineering Group Supervisor.

Major Responsibilities

• Develops designs for complete and complex civilengineering systems such as earthwork, drainage and roaddesign with minimumsupervision
• Performs Material Takeoffs for Civil sitework quantities
• Assists in constructing detailed scale models
• Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned materialrequisitions and bid evaluations
• Monitors and checks work for compliance with approvedcivil/structural design standards to provide quality design,reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy
• Participates in constructability reviews
• Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize designeffort
• Coordinates or makes jobsite visits, as required, to resolveproblems and interpret drawings and documents
• Reviews civil/structural design scope changes,as required, for project management
• Ensures civil/structural systems designs comply with allapplicable installation codes, regulations, and standards

Education and Experience Requirements

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Experienced in 3D modelling of Site earthworks, drainage, roads, etc.
• Expert in use of Civil modelling software such as Civil3D and/or OpenRoads Designer
• Experience with preparing Quantity takeoffs of Civil materials
