Job summary

Bechtel’s Reston team is seeking a civil/structural professional to produce earthwork deliverables for Combined Cycle Power Projects. You will prepare drawings, facilitate discussions, and communicate complex technical issues to ensure designs meet project scope, schedule, budget, and standards.

The role involves travel to project sites across the United States and Canada, with part-time telework and at least three days of in-person attendance weekly at the office or project.

Qualifications

• Requires associate's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews design work within a small-size civil/structural design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business unit
• Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of earthwork, drainage and road design
• Coordinates and interfaces with day-to-day technical work of civil/structural engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters
• Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management
• Prepares civil design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly
• Coordinates with client representatives to obtain approval on phases of work
• Reviews key civil/structural engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries
• Mentors civil designers and drafters by providing on-the-job training
• Ensures civil earthworks designs comply with applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards

Project Overview:

Bechtel's Infrastructure and Power is an exciting and growing business unit that is actively involved with large scale combined cycle projects and behind-the-meter gigawatt scale microgrids for delivering power to Artificial Intelligence (AI) datacenters. The diverse portfolio also includes renewable energy projects encompassing Solar, Wind and Pumped Storage Hydro. Job Summary:

In this role, you will produce earthwork deliverables for Combined Cycle Power Projects. You will prepare drawings, facilitate discussions, communicate complex technical issues, and prepare civil/structural design estimates and work plan. Your recommendations will ensure designs and work plans are in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget, regulations, and standards.

Travel Requirement: This position may involve business travel to project sites across the United States and Canada, as well as to our engineering offices in India.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-RM1

• Prepares or oversees the preparation of civil design estimates and work plan inaccordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation andperformance accordingly
• Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work
• Reviews key civil/structural engineering drawings and calculations and bidsummaries
• Mentors civil designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job trainingfor their professional development
• Ensures civil earthworks designs comply with all applicable installation codes,regulations, and standards

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires associate's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Recognized as advanced contributor with specialized skill set
• Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline
• Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of complex issues in creative and effective ways
• Expert knowledge and use of Civil 3D
• Experience working on Combined Cycle Power projects, along with a good knowledge of industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the Civil/Structural discipline.
• Must have right to work and remain in the United States
