Job Description
Gifted Teacher in the Pendergast Elementary School District, assigned to Canyon Breeze School – Avondale, Arizona.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates teaching skills and knowledge in gifted program, utilizing course of study adopted by the Governing Board and other appropriate learning activities.
- Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, prepares progress reports, and maintains confidentiality of student records.
- Establishes and maintains communication with students and parents, discussing progress and handling concerns respectfully.
- Creates a learning atmosphere through effective displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
- Participates in professional development workshops and in-service activities to maintain professional competence.
- Selects and requisitions instructional aids and materials, maintaining required inventory records.
- Assists in implementing policies, administrative regulations, and procedures established by the Governing Board, district administration, and school principal.
- Provides support to other teachers as needed and assists with curriculum implementation.
- Collaborates with school personnel, parents, and community agencies to improve student outcomes, develop solutions, and plan curriculum.
- Directs student workers and volunteers to maximize efficiency and meet work requirements.
- Reports incidents such as fights or suspected abuse to maintain safety and comply with policy.
- Performs any other duties assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Qualifications
- Appropriate Arizona Elementary Teacher Certification
- Gifted Endorsement
- Meets Criteria of Highly Qualified
- Minimum of a Provisional SEI or ESL Endorsement
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
