Deming Public Schools Athletic Department in Deming, New Mexico seeks a 7th grade boys basketball coach for the 26-27 school year. This is a part-time position starting immediately, with opportunities to coach across multiple junior levels and varsity offerings.

• Responding to player injuries with approved first aid techniques.
• Managing uniforms, equipment, and school facilities in a responsible manner.
• If Major sports course is offered- actively participate in offseason program development and implementation, including strength and conditioning, skill development, and team activities.

JOB SUMMARY

To prepare athletes for competition.? Participation opportunities are offered at the Varsity, Junior Varsity, ‘C’ Team, 9th-grade, 8th-grade, and 7th-grade?levels of competition for many of the sponsored sports.?

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teaching sports techniques, playing rules, strategies, and playing tactics.
• Conditioning athletes appropriately for activities requiring endurance, strength, and agility.

• If Major sports course is offered-? Expected to actively participate in offseason program development and implementation, including strength and conditioning, skill development, and team activities. Involvement with the school’s major sport athletic class during the academic day is required.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Vacancies for coaching positions are developed at each school and forwarded to the Associate Superintendent of Human Resources for posting in schools. Candidates for coaching positions are screened and interviewed by the high school athletic director and/or principal. To apply for a coaching job, candidates submit a letter of interest to the office of Human Resources. The athletic director will review all candidate backgrounds and recommend candidates to be interviewed.

SALARY

Coaching salaries vary depending on the coaching assignment and the level of competition ( Freshman , Sophomore, JV, or Varsity). Applicants should list related playing or coaching experiences and any training completed. In addition, candidates should list the sports they feel most comfortable teaching/coaching.
