Job summary

Inwood Academy for Leadership Charter School is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to support grades 6th–9th across our New York campuses. You will evaluate, plan therapy and deliver school-based services.

Requirements: NYS SLP license with CCC, Master’s degree, and at least three years in school settings. Spanish preferred; collaborate with teachers and families; hours align with the school day.

Qualifications

• CCC-SLP certification indicates expertise in clinical competencies.
• At least three years of teaching or school-based experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and students.
• Spanish proficiency is preferred to support diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Makes initial and periodic evaluations of the students’ speech and language needs.
• Provides school-based speech therapy to students.
• Administers therapy using appropriate modalities and techniques.
• Sets long and short-term goals and adjusts treatment plans/IEP accordingly.
• Instructs students and caretakers on activities to be done between sessions.
• Submits necessary documentation for services provided.
• Makes referrals to other disciplines when appropriate.
• Consults with other therapists and staff to coordinate care.
• Attends Parent-Teacher Conferences prepared to discuss progress.
• Other duties as assigned by Administration.

• A minimum of three years teaching experience
• Must adhere to all speech therapy rules and regulations set forth by the NYS Department of Professional Regulations
• An ability to work collaboratively

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Makes initial and periodic evaluations of the students’ speech and language and rehabilitation needs
• Provides speech therapy to students in a school setting
• Administer speech and language therapy treatments to clients using modalities and techniques appropriate for each individual students
• Sets long and short term goals in measurable terms and adjusts treatment plans/IEP accordingly
• Instruct students and their parents/caretakers in activities which can be carried out by them between treatment visits
• Submits necessary documentation for services provided
• Makes recommendations for referrals to other disciplines when appropriate
• Consult with other therapists, teachers and Director of Academic Intervention Services when providing services to the students in order to make joint decisions regarding continuation of, or dismissal from therapy when the need for speech therapy treatment is no longer necessary
• Attend Parent-Teacher Conferences prepared to discuss students’ academic growth
• Other duties as assigned by Administration
