Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders;
• Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association;
• New Mexico License in Speech‑Language Pathology from the New Mexico Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Board;
• New Mexico License issued by the PED Ancillary and Support Services.

Essential Responsibilities

• Organize and conduct identification program, i.e., screening and student assessments;
• Coordinate student’s therapy/treatment schedules with teaching staff and other related service providers;
• Refer students to other related service providers and teachers if necessary;
• Evaluate and interpret speech and language testing and make recommendations to aid in the educational planning for students with service needs;
• Provide direct and/or consultative services in individual, small, or large group settings;
• Maintain professional competence through participation in in‑service activities provided by the District and/or other professional growth activities;
• Serve as case manager for students who receive speech‑language services and may participate in Student Assistant Teams (SAT) committee meetings;
• Perform Response to Intervention (RtI) tasks and provide recommendations for RtI tasks;
• Evaluate speech and language delays and disorders, including selection, administration, and interpretation of appropriate evaluation materials and results;
• Analyze and interpret findings for use in diagnosis and recommendations and report findings, both verbally and in writing, to appropriate personnel, students, and parents;
• Follow Federal, State and District guidelines and criteria for eligibility and service delivery;
• Plan and implement the clinical program, which includes but is not limited to managing a caseload, developing therapy schedules for students, developing measurable goals, modifying educational materials, and developing rapport with teachers to facilitate Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and evaluating student progress;
• Write evaluation reports, progress reports, and maintain records including Medicaid filing for eligible students;
• Participate in intra‑school planning and communications through attending monthly meetings of the District speech‑language pathologists;
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by Supervisor.

Work Hours

Work hours are established in employment contract. Additional work hours may be required as scheduled by School Principal.
