• Plan and deliver standards-based lessons in social studies (e.g., U.S. History, World History, Government, Economics, Geography) following the Alabama Course of Study for Social Studies.
• Incorporate primary and secondary sources, inquiry-based learning, and real-world applications to deepen student understanding.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities and English Language Learners (ELLs).
• Administer and proctor state-mandated assessments, including the Civics Exam and Financial Literacy Exam, ensuring compliance with ALSDE requirements.
• Analyze student performance data to adjust instruction and provide targeted interventions.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, grades, and assessment results.
• Provide regular updates to students and families regarding academic progress, including grades, assessment performance, and areas for growth.
• Conduct parent-teacher conferences and respond promptly to family inquiries via email, phone, or school-approved platforms.
• Utilize school communication tools to share classroom updates, assignment deadlines, and resources.
• Establish a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and academic growth.
• Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance learning experiences.
• Encourage student participation in civic engagement activities, debates, and projects.

The teacher will foster critical thinking, civic awareness, and historical literacy while preparing students for state-mandated assessments, including the Civics Exam and Financial Literacy Exam. The ideal candidate will create an inclusive learning environment that promotes student achievement, active citizenship, and ongoing communication with students and families to support academic success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Instruction & Curriculum:

• Adhere to school and district policies, including attendance, reporting, and ethical guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in social studies education, History, Political Science, or a related field (master’s preferred).
• Certification: Valid Alabama teaching certificate in Secondary Social Studies (Grades 6-12).
• Experience: Prior teaching experience in social studies (preferred but not required for exceptional candidates).
• Skills:
