Job summary

Neighborhood Charter Network is seeking an Enlace Academy Dean to drive teacher development, coach instructional staff, and lead data-driven improvement efforts. The role collaborates with administrators to refine curriculum, assessments, and classroom management while shaping school culture and vision.

The Dean will partner with the School Leadership Team to implement initiatives, monitor progress, and support MTSS, IEP, and ILP processes, ensuring equitable outcomes for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid Indiana Teacher Certification.
• Minimum of five years teaching experience.
• Minimum of three years coaching or team leadership experience.
• Experience developing and managing adults.

Responsibilities

• Observe instruction to identify trends and action steps for improvement in academics and classroom management.
• Plan and lead coaching meetings and professional development for groups of teachers.
• Support teachers’ effective delivery of lessons and meeting diverse student needs.
• Provide feedback to develop instructional and behavior management practices.
• Communicate student progress to parents and teachers, academically and behaviorally.
• Collaborate on student support plans (MTSS, IEP, ILPs).
• Attend IEP meetings as PAR or substitute when needed.
• Track data to monitor teacher progress and drive intervention actions.
• Lead or support data meetings to review work and determine next steps.
• Help teachers access resources to improve student learning.
• Lead professional development in support of instructional initiatives.
• Contribute to school-wide initiatives as part of the leadership team.

The Neighborhood Charter Network (NCN) is a grassroots organization that launched in 2016 in order to manage a growing family of schools in Indianapolis, IN. The mission of The Neighborhood Charter Network is to expand educational equity to the communities we serve.

Job Summary:

The Enlace Academy Dean supports the development of teachers and instructional staff in understanding curriculum, assessments, instructional and classroom management best practices, and data analysis through weekly coaching meetings, grade-level co-planning meetings, and data meetings. Additionally, the Dean serves as a member of the school leadership team and collaborates with administrators and teachers to develop and support school culture initiatives and vision.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Developing Teachers and Instructional Staff

• Observe instruction to determine trends in teachers’ practice and identify individual teacher’s action steps for improvement in both academics and classroom management
• Plan and lead effective coaching meetings with individual teachers and professional development for groups of teachers (Get Better Faster, SIOP, co-teaching etc.)
• Support teachers’ effective internalization and delivery of lessons that meets students’ needs
• Provide clear examples and feedback that develop teachers’ instructional and behavior management best practices
• Communicate with parents and teachers regarding student progress, both academically and behaviorally
• Collaborate with administrators and teachers on student support plans (Success Plans, MTSS, IEP, ILPs, etc.)
• Attend IEP meetings as a PAR or in absence of a classroom teacher
• Accurately track data to monitor teachers’ progress toward improvement
• Lead or support others leading data meetings aimed at reviewing students’ work and determining appropriate action plans
• Assist teachers to access available resources aimed at improving student learning
• With guidance from the School Leader, implement and progress monitor instructional initiatives
• Lead professional development in support of instructional initiatives and teacher needs
• Serve on and collaborate with other members of the school’s leadership team to provide feedback and recommendations for school-wide initiatives
• Other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned

Supporting Grade-Level Systems and Culture

• Collaborate with School Leader, Assistant School Leader, and teachers in developing student and staff culture initiatives. Support the school-wide culture vision and expectations by holding both students and staff accountable to meeting expectations.
• Collaborate with School Leader, Assistant School Leader, and teachers to develop grade-team culture plans including grade-level fieldtrips, community meetings, morning meetings/advisory, and grade-team celebrations.
• Other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned

Managing Teachers and Instructional Staff

• Directly supervise teachers and staff (time off request and sub coverage, long term coverage plans, staff requisitions, etc.)
• Conduct teacher performance evaluations
• Create and monitor Staff Improvement Plans (as needed)
• Navigate crucial conversations with other adults, maintaining a student-centered focus
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with teachers, leaders, and colleagues
• Other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree
• Valid Indiana Teacher Certification
• Minimum of five years teaching experience
• Minimum of three years coaching or team leadership experience
• Experience developing and managing adults

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree
• Indiana Administrator License or desire to pursue an administrative license.
• Bilingual (Spanish or Haitian-Creole)
