Brooks Family YMCA in Charlottesville, VA is seeking an After School Lead Counselor to provide safe, engaging activities for elementary students after school, 1:45pm–5:30pm, Monday–Friday. The role emphasizes youth development and health/wellness with strong family communication.

You will supervise a group, support homework, and uphold licensing standards while partnering with the Site Supervisor. A YMCA membership is included as a perk.

Qualifications

• Meets licensing qualifications as per Virginia Department of Social Services.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• At least 6 months in a supervised child program; 1 year preferred.
• Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Experience with diverse populations is desirable.
• Complete required trainings (24 hours annually).
• First Aid & CPR and MAT certifications within 30 days.

With support from the Site Supervisor, the Lead Counselor will be responsible for providing direction to a group of elementary-aged children.
