Job description

Temporary Faculty Pool - Lecturer in Physical Therapy

Department Overview: The Fresno State Department of Physical Therapy provides a forward‑looking environment for faculty and students. Faculty positions are posted on the department website and the course catalog.

Position Summary

The department seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses or other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students.

Instructor Responsibilities

Temporary faculty members must adhere to and implement university and system‑wide policies as directed in the Academic Policy Manual. Responsibilities include preparing, delivering, conducting, proctoring, and grading lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester, in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).

Conditional Appointment

Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and the California Faculty Association. The order of work specifies that courses must be assigned first to tenure‑line faculty and then to new lecturer appointees. Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States (Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty positions). All appointments are temporary and are made just prior to the start of the academic term; candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range set by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). For a lecturer with a Master’s degree, the monthly salary is $5,507‑$6,677 when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range; the actual monthly salary may be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.

Anticipated Semester

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed. The number of available positions varies by semester.
