Job Objective
To provide engineering support to Midstream Operations and Commercial teams, providing engineering analysis of operational problems and identifying resolution or value‑enhancing projects. Assists the Integrity Management team on inspections, assessments and risk mitigation projects/programs. Provides a full range of engineering & technical support to the Commercial team for new project development and due diligence on acquisitions.
Responsibilities
- Regularly interact with control room, field operations leadership, and field personnel to analyze operational problems, develop alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions.
- Seek and identify opportunities to optimize systems, save costs, improve operations, and maximize operating performance & value.
- Provide initial design engineering, scope development, schedule, and cost estimates for maintenance, capital jobs, and growth capital projects.
- Coordinate and manage third‑party engineering designs for projects.
- Coordinate with project engineers and/or construction crews to ensure execution within the desired scope of work.
- Work closely with a project manager or assume the role of Project Manager for individual projects or programs as needed.
- Analyze and optimize oil/gas/water pipelines and terminals or natural gas processing plant recoveries/efficiencies (depending on asset location).
- Participate in or lead PHAs for processing facilities and resolve or identify projects addressing identified issues.
- Perform hydraulic simulations of pressures and flow rates through pipelines transporting oil, NGLs, or natural gas.
- Work in coordination with the commercial team in new growth project development, providing iterations and various options for initial feasibility designs & cost estimates.
- Perform due diligence work on midstream assets proposed to be acquired, including data room participation and field reviews.
- Meet with various local, state, and federal agencies regarding assigned projects as needed.
- Present information at field town‑hall monthly update meetings on overall company performance and trends.
- Assist in incident response efforts if required.
Qualifications
- Zero (0) to two (2) years of minimum oil and gas/process engineering experience.
- Broad engineering and operational knowledge with the ability to understand, lead, and provide internal support for civil, electrical, mechanical, and process control issues or designs.
- Familiar with PSM and process hazard analysis and able to perform PHAs for process facilities (preferred).
- Proficient with process simulation and hydraulic modeling (Promax or Hysis) software (preferred).
- Ability to generate heat & mass balances for existing and new process designs.
- Ability to troubleshoot operational issues at cryogenic gas processing plants and compressor stations.
- Ability to perform detailed hydraulic modeling for gas and liquids.
- Ability to support operations teams in maximizing value from each asset.
- Ability to size relief valves and control valves for gas and liquids.
- Ability to generate conceptual and detailed cost estimates for projects up to $10MM.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and solutions‑oriented approach with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
- Communicate effectively and share ideas.
- Complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
- Willing to travel 25% of the time.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from an accredited university required.
