Responsibilities

  • Configure and deploy firewalls, switches, and wireless access points under guidance.
  • Troubleshoot network issues such as slowness, IP conflicts, and routing.
  • Support DNS/DHCP, VPNs, VLAN design, and SDWAN/WAN routing.
  • Perform regular firmware updates and maintenance.
  • Maintain firewall rules and monitor IDS/IPS events.
  • Participate in vulnerability scans and remediation plans.
  • Document changes and update SOPs.
  • Travel up to 25% to support field sites and major projects.
  • Contribute to documentation or tool enhancements based on experience.

Job description

Job Objective: The Network Administrator II builds upon foundational networking knowledge and contributes to the administration of LAN/WAN systems, security enforcement, and field site connectivity. This role performs with increasing independence, resolving moderate network issues, implementing upgrades, and collaborating with vendors, IT teams, and SCADA partners to ensure system reliability and compliance with operational requirements.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Configure and deploy firewalls, switches, and wireless access points under guidance.
  • Troubleshoot network issues like network slowness, IP conflicts, and routing issues.
  • Support DNS/DHCP, VPN tunnels, VLAN design, and SDWAN/WAN routing.
  • Conduct regular firmware updates and switch maintenance.
  • Maintain firewall rule sets, conduct access reviews, and monitor IDS/IPS events.
  • Participate in quarterly vulnerability scans and remediation plans.
  • Update SOPs and document change logs for routine tasks.
  • Travel up to 25% to support field sites, infrastructure hubs, or during major projects.
  • Recommend enhancements for documentation or tools based on firsthand usage
Other Job Responsibilities
  • Follow standard operating procedures as developed by senior staff.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call for critical systems.
  • Travel up to 25% to support field sites, infrastructure hubs, or during major projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality of network credentials and user access.
  • Participate in technical training, shadowing senior staff as part of onboarding.
Qualifications
  • Proficient understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, IP addressing, switch and firewall configuration.
  • Demonstrated ability to support, configure and deploy Fortinet and Cisco networks.
  • Willingness to learn in a hands‑on, fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, professional and solutions-oriented approach with employees, supervisors and other departments
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  • Familiar with switch stacking, firewall rules, VPN tunnels and SDWAN
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation and work with minimal supervision.
  • Exposure to SCADA or OT network environments is a plus.
Education Requirements, Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Associate Degree in Information Technology related field plus four (4) years of experience as a Network Administrator or in an IT role with the same or similar job responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology related field plus two (2) years of experience as a Network Administrator or in an IT role with the same or similar job responsibilities.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Network Administrator or in an IT role with the same or similar job responsibilities.
