Job summary

NHS Dumfries and Galloway’s Public Dental Service is hiring a Dental Nurse to support clinical teams and patients. The role includes weekend shifts (7 hours), occasional extra hours for holidays and sickness, and reception duties in a fast-paced environment.

Essentially you will bring NEBDN or SVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing, GDC registration, and a solid grasp of Health & Safety. Training and support are provided to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Clinical experience as a Dental Nurse with appropriate registration.
• NEBDN qualification or SVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing is essential.
• GDC registration as a Dental Nurse is required.
• Sound knowledge of Health & Safety in a clinical environment.
• Ability to maintain excellent and efficient communications under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect dental support to patients and the clinical team.
• Work 7 hours per weekend, 1 weekend in 3, with additional hours to cover holidays, leave and sickness.

Job description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Dental Nurse to join our Public Dental Service (PDS) to provide patient‑centred dental support in NHS Dumfries & Galloway. This unique opportunity will see you providing direct and indirect support to both patients and the clinical team.

The position is within our Scottish Emergency Dental Service (SEDS) providing clinics from Galloway Community Hospital. The post holder would be required to work 7 hours per weekend, 1 weekend in 3 and work additional hours to cover public holidays, annual leave and sickness. This post will also involve reception duties.

Relevant clinical experience as a Dental Nurse and NEBDN qualification or SVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing are essential along with registration with GDC as a Dental Nurse. A sound knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within a clinical environment are essential as well as the ability to find solutions to problems, deal with the pressure of a diverse clinic whilst retaining excellent and efficient communications skills.
