Job description

Job Title: Associate Emergency Veterinarian

Location: Bowie, MD (within 30 minutes of Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Annapolis)

Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate:

  • Has previous experience in an ER or general practice setting
  • Values integrity, exhibits superior communication, and displays excellent client service and patient care
  • Is a collaborative team member who will match and embrace DCES's culture

Schedule:

We understand that work-life balance is critical. Our schedule is designed as follows:

  • 13 shifts per month (typically 3 shifts per week)
  • No more than 50% overnight shifts
  • No more than 3 consecutive shifts, with at least 2 days between overnight and daytime shifts

This is a full-time position, with further schedule details discussed during the interview.

Compensation:

Our competitive package includes:

  • Base salary plus monthly production bonus, earning potential $160k-$225k annually, with 23% production and no negative accrual
  • Continuing education allowance of $3k/year and an extra week of PTO
  • Signing and relocation bonuses, tiered retention bonuses over 6 years
  • Relief pay for additional relief shifts outside normal schedule
  • Discounts on personal pet care

We seek full-time Emergency Veterinarians to join our expanding team. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing complex medical emergencies with compassion and professionalism
  • Diagnosing and treating emergency cases
  • Collaborating with specialists and support staff
  • Supporting continuing education programs
  • Mentoring new DVMs and interns
  • Performing emergency surgeries (training required if interested)
