SUMMARY:

The Teacher in this role will create an environment that meets the individual needs and abilities of students receiving special education services; socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. The Teacher will provide support and services to students with disabilities so they may access the general education curriculum, within a full continuum of services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Maintains confidentiality related to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  2. Provides case management services for students on IEPs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
  3. Prepares IEPs, attends meetings, and presents materials and lesson plans.
  4. Determines instructional materials and provides instruction based on individualized plan goals, approved curriculum, and standards.
  5. Maintains accurate data records as required.
  6. Serves as a consultant in the RTI process.
  7. Provides coaching and training to staff based on students' IEPs.
  8. Communicates regularly with parents/guardians.
  9. Supports behavior management and intervention plan implementation.
  10. Works with staff to implement accommodations and modifications for student success.
  11. Attends staff meetings and professional development.
  12. Provides a safe learning environment with effective classroom management.
  13. Builds rapport with students, staff, community, and vendors.
  14. Maintains high ethical standards and confidentiality.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  1. Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Special Education or equivalent.
  2. Valid Arizona Special Education certificate.
  3. Obtain and maintain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Interpreting documents, writing correspondence, effective communication.
  • Mathematical operations and principles of program administration.
  • Critical thinking, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Effective oral presentation techniques, supplies, equipment, and specialized tools.
SKILLS IN:
  • Research, problem-solving, documentation, and record-keeping.
  • Data analysis, report writing, and trend research.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and computer skills.
  • Interpersonal communication and teamwork.
ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions require physical activities such as stooping, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Light Work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.

Working Conditions

Indoor classroom environment.
