General Responsibilities

The teacher is responsible for creating a safe, intellectually challenging learning environment where students are actively engaged. The teacher applies knowledge of adolescent development and content area to educate a diverse student population, modeling lifelong learning through collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.

Major Duties
  1. Designs, plans, and provides instruction using varied methods and resources suitable for all learners.
  2. Creates and maintains a positive learning environment.
  3. Assesses student learning through formal and informal methods.
  4. Maintains required records.
  5. Communicates regularly with parents about student progress.
  6. Collaborates with colleagues, parents, community, and agencies to support student learning.
  7. Connects academic knowledge to real-life situations.
  8. Engages in professional development activities.
  9. Demonstrates professional knowledge.
  10. Performs other duties as per Board policies and state statutes.
Qualifications
  • Arizona Secondary Teaching Certificate.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Awareness of diverse student needs, including at-risk, ethnic, limited English proficient, and exceptional students.
  • Essential Element of Effective Instruction (E.E.E.I.) training or willingness to participate in staff development.
