GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The teacher is responsible for creating a safe, intellectually challenging learning environment in which each student is actively engaged in meaningful activities. The teacher uses knowledge of adolescent development and content area to educate a diverse student population. Additionally, the teacher models lifelong learning by collaborating with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.

MAJOR DUTIES:
  1. Designs, plans, and provides instruction using a variety of methods and resources appropriate for all learners.
  2. Creates and maintains a positive learning environment.
  3. Assesses student learning through various formal and informal methods.
  4. Keeps and maintains required records.
  5. Communicates regularly with parents regarding student progress.
  6. Collaborates with colleagues, parents, the community, and other agencies to foster student learning.
  7. Connects academic knowledge to real-life situations.
  8. Engages in professional development activities.
  9. Demonstrates professional knowledge.
  10. Performs other duties as stated in Board policies and/or state statutes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Possess an Arizona Secondary Teaching Certificate.
  2. Possess a Bachelor's degree.
  3. Have awareness of student needs, including at-risk, ethnic, limited English proficient, and exceptional students.
  4. Have an Essential Element of Effective Instruction (E.E.E.I.) training or be willing to participate in staff development.
