Job Summary

The teacher in the School District of Philadelphia plans and teaches their subject area, following the scope and sequence for all courses. They provide instruction to students in a variety of planned courses, using real-life applications and simulations to facilitate analysis and interpretation of materials. The teacher instructs on the use of tools, materials, processes, and technology, including software applications, in developing lessons and uses formal and informal assessments.

Essential Functions
  1. Assess students' skill levels and align classroom goals with state and local standards.
  2. Provide instruction in the respective subject area(s).
  3. Use real-life applications and simulations in teaching.
  4. Teach inquiry techniques encouraging experimentation and problem-solving.
  5. Apply technical expertise in tools, materials, processes, and technology, including software.
  6. Design learning experiences demonstrating comprehension and technological application.
  7. Promote inquiry-based learning using learned skills as tools.
  8. Create an accessible classroom environment addressing students' needs and interests.
  9. Collaborate across disciplines to integrate skills into the curriculum.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
