Overview

St. John of the Cross School, a two-time National Blue Ribbon School located in Western Springs, serves approximately 650 students from preschool through 8th grade. We are seeking student resource teachers for the 2025-2026 school year. Our Student Resource Team supports students requiring additional assistance or enrichment through push-in and pull-out services. The ideal candidate is collaborative and works well with classroom teachers and the SRS team to meet students' academic needs.

Responsibilities
  • Teach in accordance with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings
  • Serve as a role model and representative of the Catholic Church and the Archbishop of Chicago
  • Implement the religious and educational mission, philosophy, and policies of the school
  • Complete required Catholic identity formation and professional development
  • Participate in religious activities and instruction as directed
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administration
  • Attend professional development and staff meetings
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and academic progress
  • Ensure a safe and positive learning environment
  • Participate in performance reviews and school events
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Requirements and Preferences
  • Practicing Catholic (preferred, required for religion teachers)
  • Compliance with safe environment requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid state licensure preferred
