The Teacher is a qualified professional who meets the requirements to teach in a Catholic school within the Archdiocese of Chicago. As a representative of the Catholic Church, the Teacher acts as a role model and carries out responsibilities that reflect the Church's message. The Teacher is a ministerial employee accountable to the principal and must adhere to the policies of the Archdiocese and the local school. The role involves fostering a Catholic educational environment aligned with the Church's teachings.

We seek a dedicated and enthusiastic educator for a combined role teaching 4th and 5th-grade Social Studies and English Language Arts (ELA), with additional responsibilities as the 5th-grade homeroom teacher. The ideal candidate will create an engaging classroom, support literacy and critical thinking, and bring creativity and structure to their teaching. The position offers daily planning periods and collaboration with a supportive administrative team. We value a passion for student growth and a commitment to nurturing an academically rigorous environment for upper elementary students.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching 4th Grade ELA and Social Studies, 5th Grade ELA and Social Studies, and 5th Grade Religion
  • Serving as the 5th-grade homeroom teacher
  • Modeling and teaching in accordance with Catholic doctrine and morals
  • Participating in religious activities and ceremonies as directed
  • Maintaining communication with students, parents, colleagues, and the principal
  • Engaging in professional development and school meetings
  • Keeping accurate attendance and academic records
  • Ensuring a safe and positive learning environment
  • Upholding confidentiality and representing the school positively at events

Requirements and Preferences:

  • Practicing Catholic (preferred for all teachers, required for religion teachers)
  • Compliance with safe environment requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid state licensure for the grade/subject area (preferred)
  • Completion of Catholic identity formation training

Applicants must submit transcripts, resume, licensure documentation if applicable, and professional references. The salary range is $37,000 - $67,000 for lay teachers and $34,000 - $61,000 for religious teachers, based on qualifications and experience.
