Summary

The Special Education Grade Band Administrator is responsible for overseeing the implementation and monitoring of IEP compliance and instructional practices. This role acts as a model teacher and coach, supporting quality classroom instruction, compliance, data collection, and program implementation. The administrator also supports the school leadership team, manages or mentors teachers, and promotes grade band initiatives.

Essential Functions
  • Assist in scheduling students with disabilities (SWD) per IEP, reviewing staff and student schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to IDEA and IEPs; serve as a resource for staff.
  • Review IEPs and provide feedback.
  • Support teachers and IEP teams with data analysis and progress monitoring.
  • Provide instructional support through classroom observations, coaching, and modeling.
  • Develop and deliver professional development on special education compliance and practices.
  • Coordinate data collection for reporting requirements.
  • Analyze data to inform instruction and compliance.
  • Develop strategies to improve student transition success rates.
  • Support re-evaluation processes and monitor progress of interventions.
  • Monitor provision of services, including content review, classroom observations, and caseload compliance.
  • Facilitate collaboration between educators, review IEP documentation, and support new hires.
  • Respond to district and stakeholder inquiries, ensure fidelity of curriculum and assessments.
  • Attend meetings, facilitate IEPs, and support student, parent, and teacher needs.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Three years of successful special education teaching experience or equivalent.
  • GA PSC Educational Certificate and at least one P-12 Special Education Certification in Math or ELA.
  • SRT4 Certification in Special Education Adapted Certification Consultative (P-12).
  • TKES/LKES credential, background check clearance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Professional knowledge of curriculum assessments and effective teaching strategies.
  • Strong desire to work with at-risk students and developing teachers.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and technological skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and manage multiple tasks.
Work Environment

Remote position with up to 25% travel. In-person meetings and training required periodically. Light lifting and indoor work environment.

Physical and Other Requirements
  • Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM.
  • Ability to read small print, use computer, communicate effectively, and perform light physical activities.
