This position was established to support the instructional process by serving as a Teacher (Regular Education). The role involves supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas, developing lesson plans, delivering group and individual instructions within established curriculum guidelines, collaborating with teachers, staff, and administrators on instructional and classroom issues, and addressing inquiries from parents/guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.
This position reports to the Principal.
Essential Functions
- Plan and administer instructional programs, conduct classroom operations in accordance with directives from school administration, Board policies, and applicable laws.
- Manage the overall instruction, operation, and supervision of the classroom.
- Implement various teaching methods to meet individual student needs and provide an effective learning environment.
- Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student competency and create individual learning plans to enhance academic success.
- Monitor and assess student progress towards learning targets and maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
- Instruct and counsel students to improve academic performance, behavior, problem-solving skills, and personal development.
- Manage student behavior to ensure safety and optimal learning conditions.
- Collaborate with staff, parents, and community resources to support school improvement and student outcomes.
- Assist other teachers with curriculum implementation and student plans.
- Supervise assistant teachers, student teachers, volunteers, and other staff to support classroom effectiveness.
- Communicate student progress and expectations to parents and guardians.
- Respond to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and administrators to provide information and resolve issues.
- Prepare documentation such as grades, lesson plans, correspondence, assessments, attendance records, and anecdotal notes.
- Participate in meetings and professional development activities.
- Report incidents such as fights or suspected abuse, and respond to emergencies to ensure safety.
