Job Functions:
- Plan and administer instructional programs and conduct classroom operations in compliance with directives from School Administration, Board of Education policy, and state and federal laws and regulations.
- Be responsible for the overall instruction, operation, management, and supervision of the classroom.
- Demonstrate a variety of methods required to perform classroom and/or subject-specific assignments, providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
- Administer and develop subject-specific assessments to evaluate student competency levels and/or develop individual learning plans to improve students' academic success in all courses of study.
- Assess student progress in relation to learning targets, objectives, and expectations; monitor students in various educational environments to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Instruct and counsel students to enhance and improve academic performance, appropriate behavior, problem-solving skills, health, and personal issues.
- Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources to support school improvement and improve student outcomes.
- Support and assist other teachers with curriculum implementation and individual student plans.
- Direct assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to administer an effective classroom program and meet individual student needs.
- Advise parents and guardians on student progress, expectations, achievements, and methods for improvement.
- Respond to inquiries from teachers, parents, students, administrators, and staff to provide information, communicate standards, and resolve issues.
- Gather information and prepare written materials such as grades, lesson plans, correspondence, assessments, attendance, and records to document progress and meet requirements.
- Participate in meetings and professional development activities.
- Report incidents (e.g., fights, suspected abuse, substance issues) to maintain safety and adhere to policies.
- Respond to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns immediately.
