An established educational institution is seeking dedicated Professional Employee Mentors to provide essential support to new non-tenured teachers. This role is pivotal in ensuring a smooth onboarding experience, offering guidance in classroom management, instructional planning, and differentiated support for diverse learners. Mentors will also help new educators navigate school policies and professional development opportunities, fostering a supportive environment. Purpose
Provide instructional, professional, and personal support to non-tenured professional new employee inductees. Mentors will follow all aspects of the educator induction plan guidelines as set forth by the PA Dept. of Education and the Northeastern York School District.
The mentor will conduct frequent meetings with the mentee (and administrators as needed) to ensure a quality onboarding program is available for the new employee.
Give instructional support in the following areas:
Classroom management
Standards-based instructional planning
Standards aligned teaching strategies
Differentiated support for struggling students
Observations & conferencing with inductee
Instruction for diverse learners
Data informed decision making.
Contribute professional support in the following areas:
Information about school policies and procedures
Student informative and summative assessments and evaluation
Educator Effectiveness including feedback on peer-observations and allowing the mentee to observe classroom instruction
Information about quality professional development opportunities
Provide personal support such as:
Introductions to staff members
Personal encouragement within the context of a confidential relationship
Liaison to referral to other key people and resources
Similar certification and assignment
Knowledge of district/school policies, procedures, and resources
Mentor training or previous experience
