The Chappaqua Central School District is a community of six schools serving approximately 3500 students in Westchester County. We are seeking excellent educators who can provide high-quality instruction and build authentic, supportive relationships with students. Chappaqua CSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the anticipated probationary position of English Teacher at Horace Greeley High School beginning 8/28/2025.

Note: applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Familiar with NYS ELA Standards and uses them for unit and lesson plan development.
• Strong, broad knowledge of fiction and non-fiction literature, both classic and contemporary, with a particular focus on American texts.
• Thoughtfully centers equity in the daily learning experiences to support the students' awareness of identity, inclusivity and social justice.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
• Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.
• Candidate should be proficient in project-based learning and differentiation of instruction.
• Willing and able to work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.
• Be prepared to engage in training around the creative use of space and technology to enhance instruction and demonstrate a curiosity and willingness to explore the assessment of skills and effort through the mastery of content.
• Experience with social and emotional learning and building a positive classroom culture that focuses on the development of the whole child.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.
• Encourages parental involvement in students education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.

Salary Range (as of 24/25 school year): $70,467 - $151,438
