Empower Memphis Career and College Prep (EMCCP) is an innovative K-8 charter school dedicated to providing high-quality education and career preparation for students in the Memphis community. Committed to fostering a culture of excellence, empowerment, and inclusivity, Empower Memphis seeks to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in both their academic and professional pursuits.

Position Overview:
Empower Memphis is seeking dynamic, student-focused Founding Classroom Teachers to establish a strong academic foundation for our inaugural cohort of students. Founding teachers will play a critical role in building an engaging and rigorous classroom culture while setting the standard for instructional excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Instructional Excellence: Plan and deliver high-quality, standards-aligned lessons that meet diverse student needs and learning styles.
  2. Data-Driven Instruction: Assess and analyze student performance data to adjust instruction and ensure academic growth.
  3. Classroom Culture: Build and maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.
  4. Student Development: Implement social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies to support holistic student development.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, administrators, and families to ensure student success.
  6. Continuous Improvement: Participate in professional development and actively seek feedback to refine teaching practices.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  2. Valid Tennessee teaching license or willingness to obtain one before the start date.
  3. Proven experience in classroom teaching with measurable student achievement outcomes.
  4. Strong classroom management skills and cultural competency.
  5. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  6. Passion for educational equity and student success.
