What We Are Seeking

The best candidates for this position will embody the values and beliefs at the heart of the VCP mission and vision.

They will also meet the following qualifications and possess these preferred skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience strongly preferred
  • A valid Teacher License (or interest in a licensure program) strongly preferred
  • Competency in using technology in the office or classroom setting
  • Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
  • Strong desire to work within an innovative, urban education program

What This Role Will Accomplish

  • Use the state standards and curriculum to create rigorous, objective-driven, arts-infused lessons aligned with curriculum maps.
  • Differentiate for individual students based on their unique learning needs
  • Develop standards-aligned, measurable, ambitious big goals that will increase student opportunities for achievement; assess and track performance against these goals.
  • Implement classroom procedures, systems, and routines that provide structure for students and maximize instructional time.
  • Use data to reflect on effectiveness of lessons and student achievement progress in order to improve instruction and personal practice.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, conduct home visits, and promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
  • Support classroom teachers by conducting small group instruction for English language learners
    • Perform intervention instruction as assigned;
    • Ensure students are engaged through activities and technology that accommodate various learning styles and personality styles
    • Provide many and varied opportunities for students to achieve mastery while working to promote achievement by all students without exception;
  • Support classroom teachers’ interactions with English language learners' parents, guardians, and families
    • Serve as interpreter during in-person meetings
    • Serve as interpreter during phone calls
  • Provide translations for written communications, including emails and printed forms
  • Use feedback from the Principal and Director of Instruction to update the Individual Professional Development Plan
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
